Kenny has been a steadfast advocate for adopted individuals in Louisiana since the 1990s. Following in thefootsteps of his mother, Dr. Linda Pendergast, who was recognized forher contributions to adoption in 2004, Kenny has carried forward alegacy of dedication and service. His work focuses on supporting adopted people through various stages of their lives, reflecting his deep commitment to their well-being. As chair of the Adoptees Birthright Committee for many years, Kenny has been instrumental in providing essential support and facilitating search and reunion efforts for adopted individuals.
His advocacy for access to original birth certificates has been a significant part of his work. Over the past two decades, he has tirelessly testified before the legislature, offering insightful and inspiring testimony to advance this cause . Kenny's pivotal role in the passage of H.B. 450, which became Act 470 in2022, restored the right of access to original birth certificates for adult adopted individuals. This landmark legislation has positively impacted over 1,500 adopted people since its enactment. As a founding member of the Louisiana Coalition for Adoption Reform, Kenny's efforts continue to shape and improve the adoption landscape in Louisiana, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the adoption community supporting them over their lifelong journey of adoption.
